Welcome to Operation Global Warming: Dumbed Down (or you could just refer to it at my library 21 research project, but this sounds cooler so just work with me here). I want to look at this big controversial topic of Global Warming from the point of view of an average American teenager, aka Me. This will be much like a personal journal of my growth in the knowledge of the vast topic of global warming.
I plan to write down (or typing I guess, this is supposed to also advance my technology experience too) every little thought I have on this subject including my ideas, conclusions, comments, questions, concerns (yes even the dumb ones)on this topic. I want to research this and draw my own conclusion on this but I also want to understand what other peoples thoughts are on this situation. I’d like to focus on other people my own age considering we are the upcoming generation and it will soon be our problem to deal with (considering it is a problem to deal with that is).
Now I'm sure there are plenty of people who are thinking who does this girl think she is and let me tell you I do not think that I am any one special or that I in some way have a more superior knowledge on this topic than the average American (ok so maybe I do believe I am a tad bit smarter than the average person but hey that’s my personal opinion, maybe you’ll come to agree with me here soon too). Anyway the point is I want to show the point of view from an AVERAGE American teenager, not some big important person like Al Gore who has money to waste on making a big production movie about it. The way I see it is he is not the one who is going to make the change. He may have the money and status to promote this but it really is the average everyday people who can make change. He is just one person, we are the masses.
Ok so I’ve already got ahead of myself here, going and talking about this “change”. We don’t even fully understand if there is a change to be made. That is what I hope to learn and anybody reading this now, just so you know, you’re officially along for the ride with me here. This should be fun.
To me the best way to understand something is to start at the beginning and go step by step from there, so that’s what we’ll do. Let’s go back a couple million years and see where that gets us (I suppose I should go do that research now so one of us has some sort of idea of what happened millions of years ago). I hope I’ve managed to grab your attention just enough so you’ll tune in for my next post. Until then you save the trees and I’ll hit the books (literally I’m in the middle of like 4 books on global warming alone).
